Woman Kills Herself in Car as Police Approach to Stop Her

The 49-year-old Morris woman was pronounced dead Tuesday evening.

Morris, IL — A 49-year-old woman killed herself in downtown Morris Tuesday evening.

Grundy County Coroner John Callahan said Shari Lynn Raad, of Morris, was suffering from depression and other health conditions and had been in contact with friends just prior to the incident.

“The friend contacted Morris Police and they were dispatched to the area of Main and Liberty where the subject was said to be,” Callahan said.

Raad had parked her car in the westbound lane of Main Street and took her own life. Two Morris police officers were approaching the car as the event unfolded. Callahan pronounced the woman dead at 8:20 p.m.
