Youth Mentor Allegedly Sexually Assaulted Underage Girl

A 36-year-old Channahon man who worked as a youth mentor has been arrested on a charge of criminal sexual assault.

Tiffin D. Misener, of the 22600 block of Carrie Avenue, was arrested after an interview Wednesday about alleged contact between him and a girl under the age of 13.

As of now, police believe the alleged assault only happened one time.

“That’s all we really have evidence of,” Wold said. ”There’s nothing to indicate that there was more than that.”

The girl’s parents had contacted police after their daughter told them that she had been inappropriately touched.

Misener told police he worked as a youth mentor and Wold said he believes Misener was working out of his home.

“He’s not associated with any churches in Channahon that I’m aware of,” Wold said.

His bail was set at 10 percent of $1 million.

Wold said it’s not believed there are more victims, but if anyone has information they should contact police.
