LINCOLNWOOD, IL — The buyer of a lottery ticket in Lincolnwood won $1 million after matching all five winning numbers in a Sunday evening drawing.

“Someone called this morning and told me they bought the Lucky Day Lotto ticket from my store,” Soto said. “I don’t know the winner personally, but I’m happy they won.”

Candy Mart is due to receive a bonus of 1 percent of the prize amount, $10,000 in this case, for selling the winning ticket, according to the lottery.

Soto said it was not the first time the local confectionery has sold a winning ticket worth seven fixtures.

“Six years ago, someone won a thousand dollars a week for the next 20 years," he said. "It’s a proud accomplishment, I still have the banner up in the store.”

The Lucky Day Lotto drawing takes place twice a day, seven days a week. Winners have one year after the draw to claim their prize.

In addition to Sunday's million-dollar winner, lotto officials said other players in that drawing won about 33,660 other prizes from $1 to $200, worth about $330,600 combined.
