2 Broke Girls Star Jonathan Kite Picked Up Show's Accent In Skokie

The sitcom star who plays "Oleg" learned the dialect from the families of his friends in the north suburb.

Jonathan Kite, who plays Oleg, a sex-crazed cook on CBS’ hit show “2 Broke Girls,” learned the accent while growing up in Skokie.

According to an article in the Daily Herald, Kite said he grew up with many Russian and Eastern European friends and would hear their parents talking in the dialect while visiting their homes.

What he learned there is now famous nationwide on “2 Broke Girls,” the fifth-year show he co-stars with Beth Behrs, Kat Dennings and Jennifer Coolidge.

Kite also specializes in impersonating famous people, including Barack Obama and Vince Vaughn. The more than 100 impressions he does are featured in a stand-up comedy show.

”(Impressions) are a fun parlor trick, and I’m very happy I can do it,” he said, noting it’s a new but small part of his act. “Stand-up comedy is more involved than I ever understood. Acting and comedy are like two different skill sets. It’s like, I’m a chef, but I also do real estate.”
