Mother, Son Found Shot In Head In Skokie Home
The medical examiner ruled son's death suicide and his mother's homicide.

SKOKIE, IL — Police continue to investigate the circumstances and motives that led to the shooting death of a mother and son found dead in their Skokie home. According to Skokie police, officers responded to a report of a "a suspicious incident involving an unresponsive person" in the 7600 block of North Lowell Avenue shortly after 11 a.m. Monday morning.
Inside a detached garage, police found Ryan Michael Stone, 34, dead inside a parked vehicle, according to Skokie police and the office of the Cook County Medical Examiner. Officers searched the rest of the home and found his mother, 62-year-old Catherine Mary Stone, dead inside.
Both died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head, according to autopsy results. Ryan's death was ruled a suicide. Catherine's was determined to be a homicide.

Police said they believe the incident was isolated to members of the household and does not pose a danger to the community.
The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force is assisting the Skokie Police Department with an investigation into the circumstances of the deaths, according to a police news release.
