2017 Winter Celebration: Old Orchard Holiday Events

SKOKIE, IL — There are a series of family-friendly festivities set for this holiday season at Old Orchard mall. The Winter Celebration includes special events and giveaways every Saturday and throughout December, with opportunities to skate with Santa, take part in Chanukkah events, get ice carving demos and meet live reindeer.

Ice Skating — All Season

Old Orchard and the Skokie Park District have again partnered to put up a family-friendly ice rink located near Bloomingdale’s to provide frozen fun for all ages. Special surprise performances are anticipated from professional ice skating ensemble IceSemble. Skate rental $3, skating $2, rental and skating $5. Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Closed when temperatures above 50 degrees or less than 17 degrees, or when wind chill falls before 5 degrees.)

Winter Celebration Events & Complimentary Valet – Every Saturday in December

Shopper can take advantage of a complimentary valet every Saturday throughout the holiday season by checking in on Westfield Old Orchard's Facebook or Instagram page using the hashtag #HowDoYouHoliday.

• Saturday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. enjoy giveaways, complimentary vale, ice skating (weather permitting), #HowDoYouHoliday social photo booth, and a live ice carving demo in Cube Park from 1-3 p.m.

• Saturday, Dec. 16 enjoy Star Wars Skating with Santa from 2-8 p.m., live reindeer from noon-4 p.m, a special Pyrotechniqs Performance between 4:30-7 p.m.,complimentary valet and a #HowDoYouHoliday social photo booth.

• Saturday, Dec. 23 enjoy live reindeer from noon-4 p.m., a special Pyrotechniqs Performance between 4:30-7 p.m.,complimentary valet and a #HowDoYouHoliday social photo booth.

Chanukkah Celebration – December 10-20

Old Orchard has once against partnered with Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie for their highly anticipated annual Chanukkah celebration. It feature daily crafts, entertainment, refreshments and a Menorah lighting ceremony.

Star Wars Skating With Santa – Saturday, December 16

Kids are invited to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters and take the ice with Santa on the skating rink outside the entrance to Bloomingdale’s. Photos will be available with Santa and his live reindeer, and prizes will be awarded for the best Star Wars character costumes. Tickets are $10 and include skate rentals. (Reserve your time, there are three sessions, 3:30 p.m., 4:15 p.m. and 5 p.m. with a maximum of 50 skaters per timeslot)

Live Reindeer – Saturday, December 23

Live reindeer will be on site taking photos with visitors from noon to 4 p.m. It will be followed by a special pyrotechnics performance.
