3 Arrested, 67 Cited In Skokie During Traffic Enforcement Campaign
Over the St. Patrick's Day enforcement period, police were on the look out for traffic violations.
SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Police Department released the results of its 2026 St. Patrick's Day traffic enforcement campaign, which led to the arrests of three people and over 60 citations.
During the St. Patrick's Day enforcement period:
- One person was arrested for alcohol and drug-related reasons;
- Two people were arrested for traffic violations;
- Police issued 37 seat belt citations;
- Police issued 14 speeding citations;
- Police issued 8 insurance violations;
- Police issued 8 distracted driving citations.
“We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason—to save lives,” said Sgt. Melissa Russell. “Whether it’s alcohol, cannabis or another drug, impaired driving puts everyone at risk.”

Skokie police partnered with state and local law enforcement as well as highway safety partners for the campaign. The effort was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
