4 Caught Breaking Into Cars in Skokie

Police say two adults from Chicago teamed with a pair of teens from Iowa to open car doors on Howard Street early Sunday morning.

SKOKIE, IL - Police in Skokie caught four people involved in breaking into cars on Howard Street early Sunday morning.

Police say they saw four people pulling on door handles of parked vehicles in the 4900 block of the street just after 1 a.m. and saw one of them enter a parked vehicle a block away.

When confronted, all four suspects fled on foot. Three were caught just blocks away and the fourth was found later in the 7700 block of Skokie Boulevard. A Skokie police officer was hospitalized briefly for a leg injury he sustained during the foot chase.

Arrested were Stacey King, 26, Chicago for one count of burglary and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor; Shaterri Scott, 21, Chicago for contributing to the delinquency of a minor; a 16-year-old boy from Clinton, Iowa for burglary and a 15-year-old boy from Clinton, Iowa for burglary.

Police later found that four burglaries to motor vehicles occurred via the group and at least three other attempted incidents. A set of car keys to a Dodge Stratus reported stolen from Clinton, Iowa were found on one of the suspects. The car to where the keys fit was found in the 4900 block of Brummel Street in Skokie.
