A Flame Too Bright: The Life of Margaret Fuller

At NSSC, Northfield Location:

Joyce Haworth, Historian and Instructor, College of Lake County

Margaret Fuller was a leading writer and intellectual in antebellum America. Ambitious and innovative, she pushed the gender boundaries of her time. She was at times an intellectual in New England, a newspaper editor in New York City, and a foreign correspondent in Europe. Yet it is not her accomplishments that stand out as much as her restless search for personal fulfillment, which ultimately led her to love, hardship, and tragedy. Her story is one you will never forget.
