4 Arrested, 87 Cited In Skokie During Fourth Of July Enforcement

Over the Fourth of July enforcement period, police were on the lookout for traffic violations.

SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Police Department released the results of its 2026 Fourth of July traffic enforcement campaign, which led to the arrests of four people and over 80 citations.

"We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason—to save lives," said Sgt. Melissa Russell. "Whether it's alcohol, cannabis or another drug, impaired driving puts everyone at risk."

Skokie police partnered with 200 other state and local law enforcement agencies, as well as highway safety partners, for the campaign. The effort was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
