SKOKIE, IL — Skokie police are investigating the death of a man who was shot and killed late Tuesday night.
The Skokie Police Department responded to a report of a person shot in the area of the 7400 block of McCormick Boulevard at 11:07 p.m. When police arrived in the area, they found a 31-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds near Howard Street and McCormick Boulevard.
Paramedics provided first aid before the man was taken to a local hospital for further treatment. He was declared dead at the hospital, police said.
Preliminary information indicates that the shooting wasn't a random act, police said. Authorities don't believe there is any threat to the public at this time.
The incident is still under investigation, and authorities said they will provide additional information at a later time. The North Regional Violent Crimes Task Force was activated and is helping the Skokie Police Department with the investigation.
