SKOKIE, IL — Voters across Illinois' 9th Congressional District will have a chance to hear directly from candidates at a public forum at Skokie Public Library in September.
The U.S. Congressional District 9 Candidate Forum is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24 from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. at the library's Petty Auditorium, 5215 Oakton St., Skokie.
According to the League of Women Voters Evanston, which is hosting the event, the forum will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by a meet-and-greet from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. Registration is not required, and the event is free and open to the public.
Democratic candidate and Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss and Republican candidate and Lakewood Church pastor John Elleson will speak at the forum, giving attendees a chance to hear from the candidates in advance of the Nov. 3 gubernatorial election.
After the forum, candidates and their representatives will be available to answer individual questions.
Members of the public are also invited to submit questions before the event. Questions should be directed to both candidates, not individuals, and can be emailed to VoterServices@LWVE.org. The deadline to submit questions is Sept. 18, 2026.
The forum will be available for on-demand viewing on the LWVE website after the event.
