125 Ticketed During Labor Day Traffic Safety Campaign In Skokie

SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Police Department released the results of its Labor Day traffic safety enforcement campaign, which led to the arrest of one person and more than 100 citations.

During the Labor Day enforcement period:

• One person was arrested;
• Police issued 20 speeding citations;
• Police issued 53 seat belt citations;
• Police issued 13 insurance violation citations;
• Police issued 13 distracted driving citations;
• Police issued 26 other citations.

"Through the Labor Day safety campaign, we helped to make our roads safer and spread the word about the risks of impaired driving – 'It's Not a Game,'" said Sgt. Melissa Russell.

Skokie police partnered with other state and local law enforcement agencies, as well as highway safety partners, for the campaign. The effort was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
