SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Police Department released the results of its 2026 sustained traffic enforcement campaign, which led to the arrests of five people and more than 170 citations.
During the enforcement period:
"The goal of this enforcement was to make our roads safer for everyone," said Sergeant Melissa Russell. "By targeting the leading causes of crashes, we aimed to save lives and send a clear message that unsafe driving will not be tolerated.
The work was tied to national and statewide campaigns including "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive High. Get a DUI." Skokie police said the goal was to keep roadways safe and help prevent serious crashes.
The effort was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
