Skokie Award for Artistic Excellence Awarded to Kevin Luthardt and Ars Viva Symphony Orchestra of Skokie

At the June 3, 2013 Village Board meeting, the Skokie Fine Arts Commission will honor Kevin Luthardt and Ars Viva Symphony Orchestra of Skokie as the recipient of the 2013
Skokie Award for Artistic Excellence. During the meeting both recipients will receive a plaque for their contribution to the arts in Skokie from the Fine Arts Commission, Village Board and Mayor Van Dusen. Luthardt’s name and Ars Viva will also be added to the Artistic Excellence perpetual plaque on display at the North Shore Center for Performing Arts in Skokie.

New to this year, both individuals and groups could be
nominated.

Award judging criteria include: visibility in the Skokie
community; scope of artistic talents; breadth of impact - number of people reached; recognition and awards the artist has received; and demonstration of artistic excellence.

Andrea Siegel, Fine Arts Commission Chairman stated, “Skokie is so fortunate to have such a positive demonstration of creativity and continuation of contribution
through the arts by both Kevin Luthardt and Ars Viva. Both have brought the spirit of visual and musical arts to many people in our community.”

and at www.skokie.org. The Fine Arts Commission promotes interest in cultural and arts activities in the Village. Some of the responsibilities of the
Commission include: promoting the work of private organizations and individual volunteers within the Village who are active in the fine arts, and encouraging
the cooperation of public and private agencies, as well as the general public, in supporting cultural enrichment within the Village.
