SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of police activity and of those recently arrested. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations that are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Jerry Hunter, 46, of the 2200 block of West Chase Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 1:48 a.m. on Aug. 5 in the 3900 block of Golf Road and charged with possession of a controlled substance. He has a court date of Sept. 11. (No photograph available)

DUI

James B. Hettel, 25, of the 4100 block of North Kedzie Avenue in Chicago, was arrested Aug. 5 at 9:40 a.m. in the 8400 block of Christiana Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. His court date was set for Sept. 6.

Freddy A. Diaz-Vega, 36, of the 8400 block of North Monticello Avenue, was arrested Aug. 5 at 3:30 a.m. in the 8400 block of Crawford Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content above 0.08. He was given a Sept. 12 court date.

WARRANT

Patrick R. Soper, 21, of the 8900 block of Lavergne Avenue, was arrested Aug. 8 at 5:57 p.m. at his home on an in-state warrant from McHenry County for theft, forgery and identity theft. His court date was not immediately available.

OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE

Joshua S. Morales, 23, of the 9100 block of Bennett Avenue, was arrested Aug. 6 at 12:54 a.m. in the 4000 block of Church Street and charged with obstructing justice after allegedly ignoring a lawful order by a police officer. He was given a court date of Sept. 5.

DRUGS

Javonni Maxwell Reid, 19, of the 8300 block of Keating Avenue, was arrested on Aug. 6 at 5:31 p.m. in the 7900 block of Karlov Avenue and charged with armed violence (committing a felony while armed with a dangerous weapon), aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession and delivery of under 30 grams of cannabis. He was being held without bond ahead of an Aug. 23 court date.

Dontreal Maxwell Reid, 19, of the 8300 block of Keating Avenue, was arrested in the same incident in the 7900 block of Karlov Avenue and charged with delivery of under 30 grams of cannabis, driving on a suspended or revoked license and possession of under 30 grams of cannabis. He was also held without bond ahead of an Aug. 23 court date.

A third man, an 18-year-old who shared the same last known address as the above men was cited for traffic offenses after being taken into custody at the same location on the same day. Police said the incident stemmed from a traffic stop and an investigation at the scene of the stop led to the charges.


SEX OFFENDER/GROOMING

Haldaine N. Collymore, 46, of the 8900 block of Lamon Avenue in Skokie was arrested Aug. 7 at 3:55 p.m. at the Skokie Police Department and charged with failing to properly register as a sex offender and grooming. He was being held at Cook County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond and given an Aug. 28 court date.

INTERFERENCE

Jennifer L. Heaton, 29, of the 2000 block of Gilboa Avenue in Zion, was arrested Aug. 7 at 3:56 p.m. and charged with unlawful visitation interference. She was assigned a court date of Sept. 19. (No photograph available)


RETAIL THEFT

Erica R. Pinelo, 28, of the 1100 block of West Northshore Avenue in Chicago, was arrested Aug. 9 at 7:35 a.m. at the Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy and charged with retail theft. She was assigned a court date of Sept. 15.

WARRANT

Marco Ramiro Tamay, 19, of the 3800 block of Enfield Avenue, was arrested Aug 10 at 12:01 a.m. in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue on an in-state warrant for failing to appear over a possession of cannabis charge. He was assigned a Sept. 12 court date.

FLEEING/RESISTING

Benjamin Stephen Holmbeck, 31, of the 2600 block of Quail Lane in Northbrook, was arrested Aug. 10 at 11:55 a.m. in the 1400 block of Landwehr Road and charged with resisting an officer, fleeing or attempting to elude police, operating an uninsured vehicle and various traffic offenses. His court date was set for Sept. 12.

BATTERY

Mark Hechter, 59, of the first block of Longmeadow Road in Winnetka, was arrested Aug. 10 at 10:17 p.m. at Skokie Hospital in the 9600 block of Gross Point Road and charged with battery after allegedly pushing a hospital security officer. He was assigned a court date of Sept. 5.

SOLICITATION/BATTERY

Nicolito M. Gaite, 52, of the 6000 block of North Cicero Avenue in Chicago was arrested Aug. 11 at 6:50 p.m. and charged with solicitation of a sexual act and battery. Both occurred at the same time and place, and police said it was initially reported as a possible assault but an investigation led to different charges. He was given a court date of Sept. 25.

BATTERY

Cynthia A. Powyszynski, 47, of the 8600 block of Skokie Boulevard, was arrested Aug. 12 at 10:23 p.m. at a cigar shop in the 8000 block of Lincoln Avenue and charged with battery. Her court date was set for Sept. 5.

Keanu Justin Smith, 21, of the same home address, was arrested at the same time in the same location and also charged with battery in the same incident. His court date was also set for Sept. 5.

Elaine Andrea Scott, 18, of the 8900 block of Bronx Avenue, was arrested Aug. 12 at 3:23 p.m. at a McDonalds in the 4800 block of Dempster Street and charged with battery. She was assigned a Sept. 6 court date.

Jeffrey Michael Carlson, 35, of the 3800 block of Dobson Street, was arrested Aug. 12 at 1:32 a.m. in the 4800 block of Oakton Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was given a court date of Sept. 5.
