SKOKIE, IL — Organizers plan to march Thursday in Skokie Thursday in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. The demonstration is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at McCormick Boulevard and Golf Road and last about two and half hours, according to organizers.

Protestors plan to lay down in intersection of McCormick and Oakton for an eight minute and 48 second moment of silence in honor of George Floyd, whose in-custody homicide in Minneapolis has sparked nationwide protests.

"We are hosting a PEACEFUL protest in the names of all of the black lives lost due to racist bigotry and police brutality in this country," according to an announcement of the event on social media. "This, again, is a PEACEFUL protest, meaning there won't be looting, destruction of any kind, or any means of harmful and dangerous behavior."
