Dead Man In Old Orchard Stairwell Shot Multiple Times: Skokie PD

UPDATE: Police have identified a man found fatally shot in a parking structure at Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie

SKOKIE, IL — The man found dead in a parking garage at Old Orchard Mall Saturday afternoon died of multiple gunshot wounds. The man has been identified and a homicide investigation has been opened, according to Skokie police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

At 1:33 p.m., Eric P. Cybak, 34, of Chicago, was found bleeding from his head and unconscious on the ground of a stairwell in the parking garage by an employee at the 4967 Old Orchard Center location. He was dead when Skokie emergency personnel arrived, police said.

Preliminary autopsy results from the medical examiner suggest that Cybak died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. There is no remaining threat to the general public, Cybak's killing was "not random," and Westfield Old Orchard was "not specifically targeted as a location for the crime," according to a statement from Skokie Police.
