How To Choose A Dog Park

Choosing a dog park

*) The park should be securely enclosed. The gates and fences should be well maintained.

*) The best surfaces are sand or small stones, which slow dogs down. The faster the dogs can run, the more damage they can do when they connect.

* ) There should be two gated areas at each entrance, so one gate can be closed before the second gate is opened.

*) Entrances should be concealed behind a blind.

*) There should be shade and water available in the summer or in climates where the weather is warm year round.

*) There should be no seating for the owners so the owners are encouraged to pay more attention to their dogs.

*) I prefer parks that segregate small dogs from large dogs.

*) There should be obstacles or landscaping scattered around the park to slow the dogs down.

*) Dog parks tend to have their own personalities; pick one where the owners tend to pay attention and interrupt play routinely.
