Orchard Village, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering 330 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across Chicagoland so they can work and live more independently, will celebrate its 39th Annual Blossom Gala at Loews Hotel in Rosemont on April 25.

“The Blossom Gala is the cornerstone of our fundraising efforts each year, and every dollar raised goes toward making a real difference in the lives of the people we support,” said Susan Kaufman, President and CEO of Orchard Village. “We are especially excited about this year’s impact – contributions from the gala will help us build an accessible garden and an outdoor educational and enrichment space where participants can learn, explore, and blossom.”

More than 180 guests and volunteers are anticipated at this year’s event. Proceeds from this year’s gala will directly empower clients – giving them access to nurturing green spaces and inspiring outdoor environments designed to foster independence and personal growth.

“My wife and I watched our daughter flourish because of what Orchard Village gave her – not just skills, but confidence and a sense of belonging,” said Doug Miller, Orchard Village Board Member and Blossom Gala Chair. “She has grown into a remarkable young woman, and we credit so much of that to the incredible team at Orchard Village.”

This year’s celebration will also include a special recognition of Board Vice Chairman Michael Leong in honor of his advocacy and sustained commitment to improving the lives of people with developmental disabilities. A veteran financial executive, he has served on Orchard Village’s board for a decade.

“Mike leverages all of his resources to support Orchard Village,” said Stephen Green, Chairman of the Orchard Village Board of Directors. “Financially and emotionally, Mike brings the entire package to Orchard Village.”
