Skokie Community Foundation Launches First Annual Skokie S’mores Walk
SKOKIE, IL — Skokie Community Foundation (SCF) will host its first annual family-friendly Skokie S’mores Walk on Sunday, May 3, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Emily Oaks Nature Center, 4650 Brummel St.
Residents and SCF friends are invited to take meaningful steps to make a difference in the lives of Skokie neighbors in need while enjoying a fun, family-oriented outdoor experience. There will be plenty of S’mores for everyone!
Since its inception in 2014, SCF -- supported by generous donors -- has awarded more than $325,000 in impactful grants to local nonprofits and agencies that collaborate on projects that directly benefit Skokie. These funds support innovative projects that directly address community needs, including helping families remain in their homes, providing essential home repairs for seniors, addressing food insecurity, creating sensory-safe spaces for children, supporting teen mental health, and offering music therapy for individuals with developmental disabilities.
SCF has just achieved a major milestone: raising more than $1 million in its endowment fund, which will provide perpetual support for local nonprofits serving Skokie.
Registration for the Skokie S’mores Walk is free. Residents and friends of SCF may donate to support the cause or participate by registering as a walker, join or create a team, or contribute to a team goal.
