Downtown Skokie Walk & Roll
Lots of Skokie residents enjoyed a safe, fun afternoon exploring unique places and artwork in Downtown Skokie!

On October 25, 2020, the Village of Skokie welcomed over 100 individuals and families into Downtown Skokie to explore new sites, re-visit familiar places and view exciting public mural art while supporting the local restaurant and retail businesses still open during the pandemic.
The inaugural Downtown Skokie Walk & Roll provided self-guided outdoor and socially-distant interior tours at five ‘experiential checkpoints’ including the new Sketchbook Brewing Company, The Chicago Clubhouse, Ignite Gaming, Aw Yeah Comics and the iconic Skokie Theatre as well as 10 distinct exterior murals on Lincoln and Oakton Streets, Main Street and on Skokie Boulevard. Walk & Roll participants received free #SkokieWeGotThis car magnet and button give-aways, specials and discounts at many of the stops and competed for prizes by sending in and sharing group or selfie photos taken around town. Dozens of participants sent in pictures of themselves, their family and friends enjoying Downtown Skokie and many reported that they ‘had a blast’, ‘found new places to patronize’ and ‘will return’! Plans are already in the works for several more ‘Walk & Rolls’ in 2021!
The Village worked with and greatly appreciates the substantial efforts on the part of the following local Skokie businesses to prepare for and promote the event: Randy Payne Design, FASTSIGNS of Skokie, Remred Business Class Promotional Products, PRINT-Xpress and Al’s Cycle Shop. Special shout-out to Skokie Public Works for their assistance with hanging the new #SkokieWeGotThis banners before the event!
