Presenter David Bier, MSW, Holocaust Community Services, will show the many ways people who suffered in the Holocaust can be impacted in late life, particularly when receiving medical care. Mr. Bier also will demonstrate how these considerations apply to individuals from all communities and differing cultural backgrounds, and relate to all sorts of suffering and trauma and its effects over time.
He will explore the impact on family members and friends and how working with people who have suffered victimization affects practitioners. Discuss best responses while attending to feelings aroused–—theirs and ours—in a world that too often avoids recognizing the consequences of trauma and the needs of its victims.
All volunteers, friends, family and community members are welcome.
