East Prairie School District
No. 73 Names Successor for Retiring Superintendent
[Skokie, Illinois, June 25,
2012] The Board of Education for East Prairie School District No. 73 is
pleased to announce that it has agreed to promote East Prairie School Principal
Theresa Madl to the post of Superintendent upon the retirement of current
Superintendent Dr. James Schopp, which is scheduled for June 30, 2013. Until that time, Principal Madl will continue
in her duties as Building Principal for East Prairie School. In response to the Board’s action, Principal
Madl stated, “I thank the Board of Education for this opportunity to take the
next step in my career leading this community, a community I have enjoyed being
a part of.”
The
selection of Principal Madl as the next District No. 73 Superintendent makes
for a seamless transition of leaders that will maintain high educational and
administrative standards set by Superintendent Schopp, noted Board President
Richard W. Evonitz. “East Prairie has
been fortunate to have excellent school district leadership under Jim Schopp,
and the Board expects, by promoting Theresa Madl from Principal to Superintendent,
that will continue,” President Evonitz noted.
Superintendent Schopp will
remain in his current position through the 2012-2013 school year at which time
he plans to resign after 10 years of distinguished service to the District and
thirty-five years in education as a teacher, principal, administrator and
Superintendent. The Board of Education
for East Prairie School District No. 73 extends its gratitude for his service.
East Prairie Principal Madl has
served the District for nine years as Building Principal for East Prairie. Prior to that time, Mrs. Madl served for eight years as the
principal of St. Luke School in River Forest, an assistant principal, and a
middle school teacher. She has presented at the National Middle School
Conference and was named Innovator Educator of the Year in 2007 by the Illinois
Principals Association.
Principal Madl expects to start
the search for her replacement shortly with an expectation to name her
successor before the end of 2012.
