Softball Pitching 101 for Girls in 3rd through 8th Grade

District 219 is holding several sports camps this winter to help young athletes learn new skills, stay fit, and be competitive. There are D219 youth sports camps for water polo, softball, baseball and football, open to students who attend elementary schools and junior highs in Niles Township, and held at Niles North High School, Niles West High School and the Skokie Park District’s Weber Center Gymnasium. The Skokie Park District is offering Softball Pitching 101 for girls in 3rd grade through 8th grade. This introductory class is for girls who want to learn basic pitching skills and will emphasize proper grip, wrist flip, footwork, the windmill motion, release and follow through. The classes will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning January 11 through February 22.  Classes will be held at the Weber Center Gymnasium at 9300 Weber Park Place, Skokie. Classes are $40 for residents of Skokie, $50 for non-residents. Register online at www.skokieparks.org or in person at the Weber Center.
