Help empower young women through education!
Expanding Lives (EL) is a not-for-profit that works with young women from West Africa to help them continue their education. Niger, the country we primarily work with, has the high rate of child marriage in the world, with 1 in 3 girls being married before the age of 15. We work with bright, hard-working young women who are the first in their family to go to high school. Our educational conference consists of classes in various subjects from computers to women's health and social entrepreneurship. They are given the skills to excel at their studies and become role models in their communities.
EL was started by a teacher from the Niles Township High Schools and is completely volunteer-based. The majority of our staff and volunteers are students from the community that are given the opportunity to expand their skills and be exposed to another culture. To bolster our educational programs and expand our reach in the region, we are holding a rummage sale to raise funds.
The event will also feature a car wash and bake sale and will take place June 14 at Niles West High School at 11am. Invest in these young women's education by joining us.
