Fake Repairman, Catalytic Converter and Tool Thieves: Police Reports

Skokie Police reports for the week of Jan. 30.

SKOKIE, IL – The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department. Charges can be dropped or reduced and arrests are not indications of guilt.

Battery

A librarian was aggressively shoved and grabbed at the Skokie Public Library Thursday afternoon. He was described as last seen wearing a gray hat, orange hoodie, red jacket, brown pants, and black shoes.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle

Someone broke the lock on a vehicle on the 4800 block of Mulford Street and stole tools sometime between Saturday and Tuesday.

Burglary

Tuesday afternoon on the 4300 block of Keeney Street, a man appearing to be in his late 50s and with an average build, told an elderly female victim on the he would fix her roof and windows. The man asked to use water, then while inside the residence, robbed the house.

Burglary

Someone broke a rear door and stole electronics at a home on the 7500 block of East Prairie Road, some between January 26 at 4:00 p.m. and February 2 at 6:30 p.m.

Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property

Tuesday afternoon, a hole was cut through a security fence and two CTA rail cars were found covered in graffiti at 3701 Oakton Street.

Sometime between Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. Someone damaged three trees in the front yard of the victim's residence, on the 4300 block of Emerson Street.

Shortly after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, someone broke the a rear car window on the 4000 block of Cleveland Street.

Retail Theft

Thursday evening between 7:53 p.m. and 8:11 p.m. five women entered the Nordstrom Rack at 9625 Skokie Boulevard and stole merchandise.

Theft

Between last Friday at 3:00 p.m. and Tuesday at 8:13 a.m. someone stole the catalytic converter from a car on the 3700 block of Dempster Street.

Similary, between last Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and last Sunday at 11:00 a.m. someone stole the catalytic converter from a car on the 8300 block of Keeler Avenue.

Between Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning, someone stole a DeWalt hammer drill from a construction site on the 7600 block of Marmora Avenue.
