Algos Pain & Spine Care’s Dr. Daniel Cha is Double Board Certified in Anesthesiology/Pain Management by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the first doctor in Illinois to offer a new approach to provide relief for patients suffering from chronic low back pain (CLBP).

The new treatment is the Intracept Procedure – a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure which targets a nerve located in the bones of the spine (vertebrae). During the procedure, Dr. Cha advances a specialized probe into the vertebrae and uses radio-frequency energy (heat) to disable the nerve, rendering it unable to transmit pain signals. Intracept takes approximately 60-90 minutes and does not involve an implant or change the structure of the spine.

Dr. Daniel Cha has had an extensive clinical experience in advanced pain procedures, including intrathecal pain pump trial/implantation, spinal cord stimulation for failed back surgery syndrome, and minimally invasive treatment of spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication. He is one of the few certified physicians in the Midwest who has training and extensive clinical experience in the placement of Superion Vertiflex implants as well as Vertos MILD (Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression) for treatment of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis with Neurogenic Claudication.

Now with this Intracept procedure, this is indicated for patients who have experienced chronic low back pain for at least six months and have not responded to at least six months of conservative care. The procedure is newly available outside of a research setting, and is covered by Medicare. We’ve had great success with our patient, Kathy Borre, (pictured below) giving her testimony about how this Intracept procedure has changed her life. “Dr. Cha did the Intracept Procedure on me and it was within 3 days my pain was pretty much gone. I do things I haven’t done in over 10 years and it’s like having a whole new life!”

Dr. Cha and Algos Pain & Spine Care have had the privilege to be invited to present this life changing procedure on the CBS Medical Show, American Health Front.
