Years ago, I heard of a horror convention in Rosemont called Flashback Weekend. Several celebrities were going to be there signing autographs and posing with fans. This was right up my alley!
I had been collecting autographs for years. I had thousands of signatures, but it was starting to get monotonous. Actually meeting celebrities sounded interesting, especially when I could meet several in one spot.
I attended my first Flashback Weekend and had a lot of fun. In fact, I went back for all three days. I have gone to every Flashback Weekend ever since and next weekend will be no different.
Flashback Weekend will be held at the Crowne Plaza in Rosemont August 9-11. This year, the headline celebrity is famed Director George A. Romero. Several others will be there, too, including Danny Glover, Dee Wallace, Kane Hodder and more. Additionally, there will be reunions of Pet Sematary, Dawn of the Dead and The Lords of Salem.
Legendary horror host Svengoolie will be there. Kitty Zombie, Nick Digilio and countless others will be on hand. Vendors, creators, artists and so much more will also be there. Of course, I will be there, too, but I don't think you will attend to see me (even though I do wear cool shirts).
Flashback Weekend is where I interviewed Kelli Maroney, one of my all-time favorites (and a teen age crush of mine), Kane Hodder and Joe Knetter and Sarah French (my favorite horror couple). Flashback Weekend is also where I talked at length to Rowdy Roddy Piper and his (then) young son Colt. I have so many great memories because of Flashback Weekend.
Flashback Weekend ha a big feel without being overwhelming. It's a great time for family, friends, dates or even solo. Believe me, I have experienced it every way possible and each time, it is a blast!
