Helping Hands Event Offers Health Care, Community Resources

The first annual event will be hosted by Niles Mayor Andrew Przybylo and Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin at Niles West on Saturday.

SKOKIE, IL – Niles Mayor Andrew Przybylo and Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin are hosting the first annual Helping Hands Community Resource Event on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Niles West High School in Skokie. The Helping Hands Community Resource Event, organized in cooperation with Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, aims to connect residents of Niles, Morton Grove, Skokie, & Evanston with a wide variety of community resources to assist them.

Participants include local governments and a host of organizations offering resources related to housing, immigration, utilities, employment, financial wellness, veterans resources and more.

Residents looking for assistance signing up for Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans or Medicare Part D are encouraged to attend, as there will be individuals on hand to help.

“At a time when so many are struggling to keep their lights on and make sure their families have food on the table, it is important to know what resources are available to help.” Mayor Przybylo said. “I encourage everyone to come out to this Helping Hands Event to learn just what is out there and what they qualify for.”

This is a family friendly event. Free hot dogs will be provided and kids activities including face painting and a family art workshop will be provided.
