Kiyoko Kasai Fujiu, who was on the executive staff of the United Methodist Church’s Commission on the Status and Role of Women and a founding member of its National Federation of Asian-Americans, speaks February 16th at 10:30 a.m. at the Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago, 7574 North Lincoln Avenue in Skokie. Her topic is, ”Incarceration: A Japanese-American’s Personal Story.” Fujiu will describe the painful experience she and her family went through when, with 110,000 other persons of Japanese ancestry, they were removed from their homes and without due process of law were forced into internment camps during World War II.
Following the program, please join us for a Newcomer's Chat (the 3rd Sunday of each month) in the library. Those new to the Society are invited to join representatives from our Membership Committee to learn what the Society is all about in a relaxed setting.
Please join us for Coffee Hour after the talk. All are welcome to our Sunday programs, which are free and open to the public, and childcare is available. For more information, please visit ethicalhuman.org.
