Joyce Gartzman nee Goldman, died peacefully at home of natural causes on February 2, 2022, a week before her 94th birthday. Born in Chicago on February 8, 1928, she was the beloved wife for 61 years of the late Arthur Gartzman. Dear mother of Marty (Joyce Bartz) Gartzman, Janice (Modesto) Senra, Sandy (Jack Judkins) Gartzman, and Howard (Sue) Gartzman. Proud grandmother to Penny (Steven Kahn) Senra, Daniel (Debra) Senra, Yasaky (Joey) Lopez, Robert (Sarah) Gartzman, Mark Gartzman, Sam Gartzman, Jonathon (Katie) Judkins, Ben Judkins, and Isaac Gartzman. Loving great grandmother of Caitlyn Lopez, Mia and Macaylah Senra, Mabel and Ozzie Gartzman, and Alexandra Kahn. Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. Considered as “Aunt Joyce” and second mother to many others. Joyce had countless dear friends, including several surviving friends from her childhood in Hyde Park. She was the matriarch of a large, extended family. She moved with Art to Skokie in 1954 and remained a Skokie resident for the rest of her life. With Art, and later with son-in-law Modesto, she was a partner in the family’s dime store business on Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago, Jules 5¢–$1 Store.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM (Central Time) on Sunday, February 6. To keep everyone safe and healthy, the chapel service, entombment, and Shiva are private.
