Made in Skokie, on display in China.
Sculptural installation "Search of the Center of the Universe" by Boruch Lev became a part of the VIII Beijing International Art Biennale.

Here is what Boruch shares about this project:
Sasha, my younger son started to recognize stars at the night sky at the age of 6 or 7. He became fascinated with the Universe, with everything related to space. We used to watch the a starry sky and listened to Stephen Hawkins together a lot. It was Sasha’s passion and I shared his curiosity. This wonder brought me to this project. Neither Sasha nor I we were able to fully understand modern astrophysics theories, so, for the rest, I used my imagination.
We believe that the Universe is expanding and this process started with the beginning of Creation. A moment of the beginning we call the Big Bang. I’ve assumed that various kinds of waves caused by the original event could be traced. Based on properties of those waves the point where they have been initiated (the Center) could be found. If I through a stone into a pond and make a photo of the waves within a short period of time, I can easily locate the point of the impact even if it’s not seen anymore. You can see this process in this piece: putting together fragments of the Universe, pieces of our discovery.

I like to look at this piece from more general point of view as well. It’s a process of solving a puzzle. I’d like to solve a puzzle, including the puzzle of the world where we all live and the one which is within me. I can see fragments. And if we will solve those we should clearly see how all of us and everything is connected.”
Boruch Lev is our neighbor and he lives in on one of the green and peaceful Skokie streets. He works on his sculpture projects in his private studio and at the Evanston Art Center.
