National Day Care Center Will Replace Comcast Building

Village paves way for The Goddard School for Early Childhood Development to open first North Shore location on Gross Point Road in Skokie.

A national child day care center with more than 400 locations across the United States will open its first on the North Shore in Skokie, on the site of the former Comcast service center in the 9600 block of Gross Point Road.

A special use permit was unanimously approved this week for The Goddard School for Early Childhood Development, a day school provider for children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years, according to the Skokie Review.

“This location will be the first in the North Shore and is expected to accommodate 190 children,” Skokie Plan Commission Chairman Paul Luke said.

Plans are for the school to raze the Comcast building and build a smaller one for the day care center. They will also re-pave and re-stripe the existing parking lots. The north parking lot will be used by parents and children and the south lot by day care staff.

The Goddard School has 20 locations throughout Chicagoland.
