Neighbor Arrested, 10 Home Burglaries, Ref Punched: Skokie Crimes

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations that are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
ASSAULT/CRIMINAL DAMAGE
An 18-year-old pushed and threatened to kill his father and broke several items in a home in the 7800 block of Lowell Avenue around 10:35 a.m. on Nov. 2.

SHOPLIFTING
Someone shoplifted items from TJ Maxx in the 3300 block of Golf Road on Nov. 2 between 12:12 p.m. and 12:23 p.m.
THEFT, FLEEING
After a theft was reported at a business in the 3900 block of Church Street on Nov. 2 around 12:45 p.m, a group of suspects fled from a responding police officer in a vehicle.

ASSAULT/TRESPASSING
A banned customer at Old Orchard Mall reportedly made threatening comments to two store employees on Nov. 1 at 5:50 p.m.
ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT
A resident in the 8200 block of Kilpatrick Avenue reported receiving multiple alarming messages from a suspect known to her on Nov. 2 around 1:45 p.m.
SHOPLIFTING
A retail theft was reported at Macy's, 4909 Old Orchard Road, on Nov. 2 between 4:20 p.m. and 5:08 p.m.
TELEPHONE HARASSMENT
A resident in the 8600 block of Avers reported receiving a call from a known suspect on Nov. 2 around 5:05 p.m., which caused them to become alarmed.
SEXUAL ASSAULT
On Nov. 3, a criminal sexual assault was reported having occurred in the 5200 block of Old Orchard Road between Oct. 27 at 2 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
FORGERY
Someone used two counterfeit $100 bills as payment for a purchase at the Nordstrom's at the Old Orchard Shopping Center on Nov. 3 at 3:17 p.m.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke down the front door of a home in the 5000 block of Birchwood Avenue on Nov. 3 between 5:10 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Money was taken from inside the home, but no suspect information was available.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
Someone got into a home in the 3300 block of Lee Street between Nov. 3 at 9:30 p.m. and Nov. 4 at 2:46 a.m. and stole $2,500 worth of gold jewelry.
HOME BURGLARY
A known suspect entered a house in the 8000 block of Hamlin Avenue sometime on Sept. 7 or 8, and stole multiple items, police were told on Nov. 4.
THEFT/CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A theft and criminal damage was reported at Old Orchard Center on Nov. 5 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
HOME BURGLARY
A residential burglary was reported in the 8400 block of Latrobe Avenue on Nov. 4 between 7 p.m. and 9:35 p.m. No information about a suspect was available.
BATTERY
A soccer player head butted a referee over a refereeing decision during a game in the 9300 block of Kenton Avenue on Nov. 5 around 9:30 a.m.
BURGLARY
Someone broke into a storage unit in the 8600 block of Skokie Boulevard using a prying tool and stole a fan valued at $50 between Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. and Nov. 5 at 10 a.m.
THEFT
Someone stole a Lyft driver's wallet from their ride-hailing vehicle at Old Orchard Center on Nov. 5 between 6:14 p.m. and 6:52 p.m.
CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 8500 block of Trumbull Avenue reported that someone broke into a vehicle between Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. and Nov. 2 at 5:30 p.m.
HOME BURGLARY
A resident found a person known to them but not allowed in their apartment in the 4900 block of Hull Street on Nov. 6 at 8:55 p.m. Jewelry was reported stolen.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone forced their way into a home through the back door and stole a $150 gift certificate to a salon from the 8700 block of Springfield Avenue on Nov. 6 between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a detached garage and a home in the 4200 block of Howard Street on Nov. 6 between 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
ARRESTS
Biola Oluwatobi Onasanya, 23, of the 8400 block of Latrobe Avenue was arrested Nov. 4 at 3:09 p.m. in the 8200 block of Niles Center Road and charged with hit and run in connection with a traffic crash in the 7400 block of Niles Center Road that occurred earlier that day. (No photograph available.)
Billy Gale Burks, 27, of the 9000 block of Keating Avenue, was arrested Nov. 5 at 2 a.m. at his home and charged with criminal damage to property.

Jonathan Erik Bernal, 18, was arrested Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with retail theft in connection with a reported theft of clothing items from Macy's between 6:13 p.m. and 6:52 p.m. that day.

Steven Rubin, 65, of the 8300 block of Trumbull Avenue, was arrested Nov. 6 at 11:40 p.m. at his home and charged with criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct after he allegedly used a long object to strike a camera mounted on a home in the 8300 block of Trumbull Avenue on Nov. 4 around 9:07 p.m.

Sargon Shabandir, 24, of the 5000 block of Suffield Court, was arrested Nov. 7 at 5:55 p.m. at Old Orchard Center and charged with delivery of a controlled substance.

Roman D. Walker, 33, of the 4800 block of Conrad Street, was arrested Nov. 7 at 9:49 p.m. in the 8600 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and unlawful use of a weapon.
