Nicor Gas, State Leaders and Village of Skokie Connect More Than 200 Households to Vital Community Resources

Nicor Gas, Illinois State Representatives Kevin Olickal and Mike Kelly and the Village of Skokie, hosted a Community Connection Resource Fair at the Oakton Community Center last week, bringing together local organizations and critical support services for residents across the community.

More than 200 households attended the event, where participants connected with agencies and nonprofits offering energy-saving programs, utility bill payment assistance, weatherization services, veterans’ resources, career opportunities, natural gas safety information and other essential community support services. In total, more than 5,132 pounds of groceries were distributed to families in need, along with 166 energy-saving kits designed to help customers lower energy usage and reduce monthly utility costs.

Representatives from organizations including CEDA, The Salvation Army, Illinois Tollway I-PASS Assist, the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD), among others, were on site to provide information and connect residents with available programs and services.
