Niles Township Clerk Charles Levy Honored by Township Officials of Illinois

Niles Township Clerk Charles Levy (Lincolnwood) was recently honored by the Township Officials of Illinois.

The Clerk’s Division of the Township Officials of Illinois recently honored Niles Township Clerk Charles Levy. Mr. Levy received the William Z. Ahrends Award, given annually to a Township clerk that displays exceptional professionalism and community leadership.

The award is named after William Ahrends, who served as Clerk in Rooks Creek Township, located in Livingston County Illinois, from April 1949 to August 1990. Mr. Ahrends was inspired to organize two township officials associations, the Town Clerks' Division of TOI and the Livingston County Association. He served from 1957 to 1963 as the first president of the Town Clerks' Division, and is the only person ever appointed director emeritus of Township Officials of Illinois.

Marilyn D. Glazer, Supervisor of Niles Township added, “ Charles has devoted many hours to community service both in Lincolnwood, Niles Township and at the Township Officials of Cook Country, and the Township Officials of Illinois. He works tirelessly, making sure people have the best government services possible.

Since 1850, Niles Township Government has been dedicated to improving life for its residents. Niles Township is located in the northeast corner of Cook County. With a population of over 105,000 the Township includes the villages of Skokie, Lincolnwood and Golf, and sections of Morton Grove, Niles and Glenview.
