Ralph Tash, 96, of Chicago, and Rancho Mirage, California, passed away in Evanston on May 8, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving son of the late Abraham and Bertha Tash (nee Rabinovitch); dear brother of Lenore (Albert) Rabin and the late Sherwin (Dorothy) Tash; beloved husband of the late Teme Rivke (Thelma Riva, nee Schmidt); devoted father of Dr. Joseph (Lorraine), Sharan, Max (Sharon), Carl (Jennifer), and the late Elisa Tash; cherished Zayde of Rose Tash (David) Collins; Avraham Mendell (Rachel) Mor, Matthew David (Peggy) Tash, Aliza Raizel Mor, Golan Yosef (Amanda) Mor, Lily Caplan (Phil) Blum, Daveed Shaiya Erickson, and Eli Caplan Tash; proud great-grandfather of Jack Milton Collins, Merav Layla Mor, Remi Adina Mor, Emmet James Mor, and Orly Aviva Mor; treasured uncle and great-uncle of many.

Ralph was born in Russia in June 1922. He moved with his family to Buenos Aires, Argentina in July 1922. They immigrated to the United States in 1934, settling in Chicago. Ralph graduated from Manley High School in 1938 at the young age of 16. He was also a concert master at Manley.

Ralph joined the US Army Air Corps December 11, 1943 and became a 2nd Lieutenant Navigator. He flew 51 successful combat missions and was honorably discharged July 14, 1945. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross 15th Air Force and Air Metal GO 1081 15th Air Force.

He returned and attended the University of Illinois, graduating with a pharmacy degree. He founded several successful businesses- namely TASH, Inc. with his brother Sherwin, and ShopKo in Green Bay, Wisconsin with James Ruben.

Jewish life was extremely important to Ralph – he was a longtime member of A.G. Beth Israel Congregation in Lincolnwood as well as Temple Isaiah in Palm Springs, California.

Ralph maintained valued friendships through his memberships at Bryn Mawr Country Club in Lincolnwood and Morningside Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. He enjoyed the theater and was a longtime subscriber to McCallum Theater in Palm Desert. He will be deeply missed by many people.

Services were held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McCallum Theatre, or the Eisenhower Medical Center.
