Featured Obituary:

Lawrence Joseph Henschen, PhD, 78 of Evanston, passed away suddenly Sunday January 8, 2023 in the early morning in Evanston Hospital emergency room due to heart failure.

Lawrence was born Wednesday October 11, 1944 in Joliet, Illinois, the son of Howard Henschen and Amy Henschen, nee Handwerk. He attended his elementary, middle school, and high school in his home town. He received a full scholarship to study at the University of Illinios at Urbana-Champaign and obtained his BS, MS, and PhD in Mathematics from that university.

In 1971, after he graduated from the University of Illinois, he was employed by the Northwestern University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and continued to work at Northwestern for over 50 years, getting promoted from assistant professor to associate professor, and then full professor. He served as associate dean of the graduate school for 9 years, taught a wide range of computer science classes and advised many graduate students. He also published over 150 conference and journal papers.
