Featured obituary:

Dr. Judith Covey Carson, died January 6, 2019 following a short illness. She passed away at home in peace surrounded by her family. Judy was born May 15, 1948 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the third of five children.

She was a graduate of Brown University where she went on to receive a PhD in Philosophy in 1985. She worked as a software designer/architect at Anchor HMO, Comdisco, the Bradford Exchange, and the Acxiom Corporation. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Judy was an extraordinarily kind, generous, and compassionate mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. In addition, she had a great concern for well-being of less fortunate people and was very active in helping many organizations that promote social justice. Judy had a great love of music and was a gifted piano player and musical improviser. She also had an insatiable curiosity and was always open to exploration and learning. Those who knew Judy will recall her love of Mickey Mouse and her sharp wit and sense of fun. They will also remember her as an unusually selfless person, much more moved by the needs of others than the demands of her own ego.

She was predeceased by her father Preston King Covey Sr., her mother Nancy Humphrey Covey and her brother Dr. Preston King Covey Jr. She is survived and will be deeply missed by loving husband Dr. Thomas Carson, daughter Dr. Nora Carson and husband Dr. Jordan David of Los Angeles California, son Dr. Daniel Carson of Rancho Cucamonga, California, sister Susan Covey of Palo Alto, California and her children Sarah Irene, Madeline Levinson, Caitlin Levinson, sister Dr. Barbara Covey and husband Mark Jose of Oakland, Maine and their children Dylan Jose and Amy Jose, brother David Covey of Aumsville, Oregon and his children Courtney Covey and Korin Covey (and her son Trey), sister-in-law Denise Troll Covey of Oakmont, Pennsylvania, nephew Adam Covey, and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her honor to:
