Featured obituary:

Kay Lynn (Meyer) Price was born in Goodland, Kansas on September 17, 1952, moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado when she was seven, and graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1970. She then attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, and transferred to the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Minor in Music.

Following graduation, Kay married her high-school sweetheart, Gary Price, on June 15, 1975, in Fort Morgan. For one year she taught second grade at Weldona, Colorado. She received her Master of Arts in Education from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, specializing in Remedial Reading. For her master’s degree, she created and implemented the Right-To-Read program in several elementary schools in the San Luis Valley near Alamosa.

Kay and Gary moved to Evanston in 1977. Kay served as an undergraduate student advisor at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music. She loved working with the students and staff and had the reputation of being the “go-to” person for answers to any questions. In December 2016, Kay retired from NU.

The Price family are long-time members of First United Methodist Church, where Kay volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed participating in the women’s book group. She especially liked hosting the December meeting where she displayed many of her beautiful, treasured Christmas decorations.

Kay enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, making music and memories with family. She also had a love of and a keen eye for special antiques.

Kay is survived by her beloved husband Gary and their daughters Erin Jackson (Rob Lustman) and Megan Price. She was the kind grandmother of Kayla, Josiah, Elias, Jaden, and Kirk Jackson; Jeffery and Daniel Lustman; and Draven Webb. She was a dear sister of Marsha (Stan) Kingcade, Nancy (Greg) Abbott, and the late Karen (Eddie) Gerken and was also a fond aunt of many.
