Featured Obituary:

Jean Simeon Pierre, aka JP, Jean, Osama, Sime, YonYon, was born on May 28, 1956, in the city of Port-au-Prince in the beautiful country of Haiti. His parents, Pierrissaint Pierre and Denise Desulme emigrated to Port-au-Prince, the capital, from the countryside cities of Leogane and Petit Goave. They lived in Port au Prince, and it was where they raised twelve children together.

Being the second oldest son, he wanted to go to school, get a good job and help his family. He did so by graduating from high school and completing four years of college in Haiti. He always wanted to be a doctor or a journalist because he loved reading and helping people.

Shortly after that, he met and married Marie Yolene Fevrier Fils on September 6, 1979, at 23. He had his first child Jimmy in July 1979, his daughter Marie Francesse in 1980, his third child, Mackendy Pierre, in 1983 and his fourth daughter Midlyne Pierre in 1985.

Jean worked very hard as a driver to save his money to get his visa to have a better life in the United States. One year later, he was able to get his visa to go to the United States. He went to New York to work and then relocated to Evanston, IL. His wife joined him and had two more children, Anne Marie and Joseph Henry.

Here in Illinois, he worked as a chef and manager at Sherwin Manor for over 20 years. From there, he was a school bus driver for over 4 years and transitioned to driving a semi-truck for over two years. He received his GED in 2003. When he was not working or learning, he spent his time with his family and children. He also became devoted to Jehovah's Witness religion and did weekly field service spreading the good word.

He was selfless and polite to all who knew him. Knowing how much he worked to learn a new language and a new way of life, he helped many families complete the immigration process to come here for a better life. He never forgot the hardship and struggles in Haiti; he always helped his family back home and kept them going in life. We will remember him always. How he made us laugh and always having positive thoughts to encourage other
