Old Orchard Mall Masturbation, iPhone Thieves, Catalytic Converters Cut: Skokie Crime

Skokie Police Department reports for the week Of Feb. 6.

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department.

BURGLARY

Sometime between Dec. 18 at 12:00 a.m. and Feb. 9 at 1:00 p.m. someone forced the side door of the garage open and stole numerous power tools from a home on the 8600 block of Harms Road.

ATTEMPTED RUSE BURGLARY

On Feb. 9 between 4:40 p.m. and 4:50 p.m. a 30 to 40 year old Latino man wearing a dark colored lightweight jacket, blue jeans, and dark baseball hat walked into the victim's residence through the unlocked back door. When the elderly victim confronted the male he told he was there to fix her sump pump. The victim and the man went into the back yard where, speaking in heavily accented English, he showed her the sump pump host had been disconnected from her house. She told the him to leave and he walked away southbound through the rear alley.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

On Feb. 4 between 11:42 p.m. and 11:55 p.m someone used a sharp object to cut several tires and power steering hoses on landscape vehicles at R&G Almanza Landscape, 3409 Howard Street.

On Jan. 7 between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. someone removed a parking garage fire extinguisher from its emergency dock at 4967 Old Orchard Center, Westfield, and emptied the contents onto the floor.

Sometime between February 7 at 11:00 p.m. and February 8 at 9:30 a.m. someone splattered paint on the passenger side of the victim's vehicle on the 4100 block of Oakton Street.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On Feb. 6 at 4:30 p.m. an unknown man described as in his mid-30's and Middle Eastern was witnessed apparently masturbating in his parked car at the mall in the Nordstrom lot at 4937 Old Orchard Center.

On Feb. 8 at 7:45 p.m. someone was reported to have been prank-calling a victim on the 9100 block of Kenneth Avenue.

FORGERY

On Feb. 6 between 11:43 a.m. and 9:08 p.m. a woman fraudulently used the victim's personal information to access her credit account.

THEFT

Sometime between Feb. 3 at 3:00 p.m. and Feb.4 at 11:00 a.m. Someone stole two large rugs from the front entrance to a building on the 9100 block of Gross Point Road.

On Feb. 7 between 12:51 p.m. and 1:06 p.m. The victim withdrew money from the Bank of America at 3328 Touhy and accidentally left it at the bank counter. When he returned for the money it had been stolen.

On Feb. 7 at 10:00 a.m. someone used a pry tool to pry open the victim's mailbox and steal packages on the 4800 block of Mulford Street.

On Feb. 7 between 4:30 p.m. and 4:40 p.m., someone stole the victim's purse that was left in a shopping cart unattended at the Walmart located at 3626 Touhy Avenue.

On Feb. 9 at 1:28 p.m. two unidentified black men entered the store and stole two iPhones from the T-Mobile, 5232 Dempster Street.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

On Feb. 7 between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the 4100 block of Birchwood Avenue, someone used an unknown cutting tool to steal the victim's catalytic converter from under the vehicle.

Sometime between Feb. 8 at 8:30 p.m. and Feb. 9 at 8:00 a.m. sometime used an unknown cutting tool to steal the victim's catalytic converter from under the vehicle.

IDENTITY THEFT

Sometime between Jan. 13 at 12:00 a.m. and Jan. 25 at 10:00 a.m. someone used the victim's email and credit information to make fraudulent bank transactions on the 8700 block of Skokie Boulevard.

Sometime between Jan. 30 at 5:54 p.m. and February 6 at 5:54 p.m. someone fraudulently used the victim's bank account information to withdraw money.

On Feb. 9 at 1:00 p.m. someone used the victim's credit information to make fraudulent transactions on the 8100 block of Karlov Avenue.

RETAIL THEFT

On Feb. 6 at 3:05 p.m., two black men and four female black women stole numerous items of men's clothing from the Ross Dress For Less store at 9454 Skokie Boulevard.
