Police Search For Armed Robbery Suspect Shuts Down Road In Skokie

After a heavy police presence appeared Monday night on Niles Center Road, the investigation remains active Tuesday afternoon, police said.

SKOKIE, IL — Officers searching for an armed robbery suspect set up a perimeter around a home in Skokie Monday, taking a person into custody pending charges. Police said they were dispatched to the scene in the area of Niles Center Road and Grove Street to look for a person who was also wanted on charges of fleeing police.

In an alert shortly before 10 p.m., Skokie police announced that Niles Center Road between Skokie Boulevard and Davis Street was closed in both directions for police activity. About an hour later, police said the road had been re-opened to normal traffic.

The case remains active and under investigation, according to a police spokesperson. No charges have been filed, and no further information was immediately available from Skokie police.
