Routine Stop Leads to $4K Meth Bust

Skokie police recovered more than $4,300 worth of meth after a routine traffic stop on July 27 around 11:50 a.m. Officers in a marked squad car spotted a van that was swerving into oncoming traffic in the 9400 block of McCormick Boulevard and initiated a stop, according to the report.

When officers spoke to the driver, they noticed her "hands [were] shaking and she seemed nervous," the report stated. There were also two other passengers inside the vehicle at the time of the stop, the report said.  Police would then call for backup and the department's only canine, Dino, to search the car for possible narcotics.

The German Shepherd would alert police to several areas inside the vehicle. After conducting the search, police found several bags of methamphetamine inside the van, according to the report. Officers also located several glass smoking pipes - some with residue - a digital scale and small plastic baggies.

Police ultimately charged Armi Emiliano, 40, of Hoffman Estates with felony possession of methamphetamine, 15-100 grams, felony possession of methamphetamine, less than five grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence of drugs. Emiliano told police that she was going to an apartment near Main Street and Skokie Boulevard, according to the report. 

Officers also charged Davis Corrpuz, 39, also of Hoffman Estates, with  felony possession of methamphetamine, 15-100 grams, felony possession of methamphetamine, less than five grams, possession of drug paraphernalia. The third passenger, Paul Bautista, 35, of Chicago, was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, less than five grams, possession of drug paraphernalia.
