Ruby Tuesday Closes in Skokie

​The Skokie location of Ruby Tuesday was one of 11 in Illinois to abruptly close this week.

SKOKIE, IL - The Ruby Tuesday restaurant on Old Orchard Road in Skokie was one of 11 to close its doors in Illinois this week.

Illinois franchisee RT Midwest Holdings and President Jerry Ruta abruptly decided to close all restaurants in Illinois, according to Restaurant Business Online. The chain remains open in 43 other states.

The Skokie location operated out of 5203 Old Orchard Road and received three stars on both Yelp and AllMenus.com.

RBO reports employees at several Land of Lincoln locations found out about the closings when they arrived for their work shifts on Thursday.

“I didn’t see it coming. I really didn’t,” said George Garza, a longtime employee of the Ruby Tuesday location in downstate Morton, told the Peoria Journal Star. “I thought this place was going to be here forever.”

The Illinois closings include three in the northern half of the state, including locations in Downers Grove and Gurnee.

A Ruby Tuesday statement said the chain “went to great lengths” in assisting the franchisee in remaining open.
