Service Suspended On CTA Yellow, Purple Lines After Woman Struck
Authorities said a 28-year-old Glenview woman jumped in front of an oncoming train at the Jarvis CTA Red Line station Thursday evening.

CHICAGO — Service on the CTA Yellow Line was temporarily suspended and Red Line and Purple Line service was limited after a train struck a woman Thursday on Chicago's North Side, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m., according to police, who said they were called to a train crash a the Jarvis Red Line station and discovered a woman dead at the scene.
Yena Hong, 28, of Glenview, was identified as the woman who was fatally struck, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Authorities believe she jumped in front of an oncoming train.

Yellow Line service was halted completely until further notice. Red Line trains were stopping at Granville, with all service suspended north to Howard. Purple Line trains are operating only between Belmont and the Loop, according to CTA alerts.
CTA officials asked travelers to allow extra travel time. No shuttle buses were been announced. A CTA spokesperson said the rail service was waiting for police to clear the scene before it could restore service.

Service was resumed for Howard-bound Red Line trains around 8 p.m., Purple Line trains from 8:30 p.m. and Yellow Line trains around 9:30 p.m., according to CTA alerts.
