Shooting On Edens Expressway In Skokie Reported To State Police

Inbound lanes were briefly closed after Illinois State Police were told of an early morning expressway shooting south of Old Orchard Road.

SKOKIE, IL — A shooting wounded one person and led to the brief closure of one direction of the Edens Expressway in Skokie, state police said.

State troopers were called to Skokie Hospital Thursday morning for a report that a patient there had been injured in an expressway shooting just south of the Old Orchard Road exit around 4:45 a.m.

The victim's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Around 6:20 a.m., state police diverted all Interstate 94 traffic off at Old Orchard Road for about 15 minutes to check for shell casings and investigate the site of the reported shooting.

Police described the investigation as "still in its infancy."
