Shooting Range to Open in Lincolnwood
Long legal battle ends in favor of Shore Galleries, which will open the range on Devon Avenue.

LINCOLNWOOD, IL - A shooting range is coming to Lincolnwood, culminating in a long legal battle eventually won by a local gun shop.
Shore Galleries won final approval to open the shooting range as an extension to their shop at 3318 W. Devon Ave., the Lincolnwood Review reports.
The shop secured the building permit for the 10-lane shooting range on Wednesday, but village officials note they had no choice but to approve the business’ plans.

"Our hands are tied," Village Manager Timothy Wiberg said. "We have to adhere to the court order."
The gun shop has been eyeing a shooting range for years. When their most recent request was denied by the village, they sued. A Cook County Circuit Court judge ruled in favor of the village, but Shore Galleries saw the decision overturned on an appeal.

Under Lincolnwood’s current zoning code, a shooting range wouldn’t be allowed on the property, but since the shop’s initial request was made in 2012, the zoning rules from then apply.
Village officials have vowed to “closely monitor” the range, holding them to its 65-decibel maximum level for volume.
