Skokie To Be One of First To Get Gigabit-Speed Service

Advanced, gigabit-speed broadband service will be offered by AT&T to Chicago-area homes for the first time soon, with Skokie being selected as one of the first communities to receive the service 20 times faster than its current highest-speed broadband, according to Crain’s Chicago.

The service requires fiber-optic connections directly to homes and businesses.

Other communities set to receive the 1-gigabit service soon are Elgin, Oswego, Plainfield and Yorkville.
